Arisaema sikokianum (Shikoko Cobra Lily)

Arisaema sikokianum (Shikoko Cobra Lily)
40 (60)cm, Shikoko Cobra Lily is among the most elegant Arisaema species with a dark brown spathe and white spadix with a very broad tip. Native of humus rich soils in sunny spots in woods in Japan. Rarely cultivated, propagation is mainly by seed as it usually does not make any (or only few) offsets. Seed of this beautiful species is always very scarce. IV-V.

Note: In the commercial trade wrongly labelled plants are commonly distributed under the names "Arisaema sikokianum" ex China, "Arisaema sikokianum var. serratum", or "Arisaema sikokianum var. henryianum". All these are imported plants from a single source in China and neither represent any type nor form of the real Arisaema sikokianum from Japan, but are either Arisaema engleri or Arisaema serratum ! If you do not want to be disappointed and to lose a lot of money for the usually high-priced Arisaema sikokianum, we recommend to avoid buying any plants with the above mentioned names and to make sure that plants are not of Chinese origin.
