Greenovia aurea var. subalpina var. nov. ined. Exclusive

Greenovia aurea var. subalpina var. nov. ined. Exclusive
15 (18)cm ø, only in 2001 by Malkmus, B. new discovered extraordinarily nice variety with very small and remote populations in the subalpine region (at an altitude of between 1.750 to 2.250m) on the outer mountain range of the Caldera de Taburiente on La Palma. More compact in all parts, makes a 2cm broad stem reaching up to 10cm in height, which distinguishes this variety from the main species found on Tenerife. Has light green leaves, covered with white wax in a dense rosette up to 18cm in diameter, which turns violet purplish on the outside during the dry season due to intense UV radiation. A very decorative variety which makes only few (3 to 5) offsets. From partially shaded, rather dry rock crevices, Pico del Cedro, 1.870m and Roque Chico, 2.170m. Flowering time from April through June.
