Paeonia daurica Andrews (syn. Paeonia mascula ssp. triternata)
40 (70)cm, the smallest Member in the Mascula Group, and a very rare species. Makes slightly undulated leaflets, bluish green in a sunny position. The ovoid leaflets are smaller than in other subspecies. Rose red blooms in spring. Native of the Ukraine and the Crim area, occurring in open spots in woods. For any rich, well drained soil in a sunny to partially shaded spot. IV-V.
