Soldanella montana
10 (20)cm, low flowering stem with finely dissected, rich violet blue flowers above a dense rosette of small, round to kidney shaped leaves, purplish beneath. Native of W Pyrenees, E Alps to Carpathian Mountains growing in humus rich soils in pine forests and mountain meadows. For any humus rich, slightly moist, clay free soil in partial shade to full sun. II-III.
